Alter Südfriedhof

I walked the length of the old wall in the Alter Südfriedhof, Munich’s oldest surviving cemetery. It opened in the sixteenth century as a burial ground outside the city gates and has taken no new burials since the 1940s, so it has become a park that still has its graves.

I shot it on my phone and turned it to black and white. The arcade on the right and the trees on the left close in on the path, and the light at the far end is where your eye goes.
